I bought this in the Caribbean while on a cruise. Love it.
Citizen Response
Really like the look of the watch. Overall it functions well. Auto set time feature does not work often. Outer rim of watch scratches somewhat easily. Biggest gripe is that the band, which was a big selling point for me, has really not held up, which for a $600 watch is pretty lame.
I just received my watch today in the mail. I have not even had it for an hour and I'm loving it. I love all of the gadgets yet it still has the feel of a mechanical watch.
So I bought the AT8020-03L recently. Fantastic watch. Nice style. Plus sapphire crystal. I probably would have bought the Tissot if the glass wasn’t sapphire. I was in Times Square and already went to Swatch and Tissot and I was planning to visit Seiko in Madison Ave. But they were already closed so I decided to look at Citizen too. Nice staff, pleasant and efficient. The Citizen Eco-Drive World Chronograph Radio-Controlled Blue Angels immediately caught my attention because of the style. It didn’t hurt that they have an ongoing discount promotion. But the watch was stunning regardless. I always liked automatics. It would take me a lot of effort to buy a quartz because I don’t like the idea of getting the batteries changed, but this is different. Light-powered, any light. Quartz precision, sapphire crystal, world clock - choose your time zone, daylight saving function, perpetual day and date - even leap years!, radio signal atomic clock synchronization, chronometer, slide rule and analog computer conversion like Breitling, 24 hr clock indicator, water proof to 20bars pressure, nice style... what’s not to like? 42mm bezel like a Speedmaster. I’m sure I missed something. I'm very happy with it. My friend was shocked I bought a quartz but after showing him the features, he ended up buying the same model! Useful when traveling to other countries; just set the new time zone and the watch readjusts! Only the GPS versions have a leg up but I still gravitated to the AT8020 style. It’s a fun watch. I actually enjoy using the radial logarithmic and conversion calculator. Anyway I’m geeking out. Way better than Breitling, function-wise. It’s a wear and forget watch. It won’t let you down. Better than an automatic: 6 month life on one full charge. Ok let me stop. Check the pics online yourselves. Im not a photographer:)
This is my 3rd . Citizen watch and defenetly not my last . Thanks JJ
I have another Citizen "Brycen," BL5403-03X, which has received lots of compliments, but the more expensive Blue Angel AT8020-03L was the REAL apple of my eye. Recently, I was able to make the, " Blue Angel," purchase. This watch with the leather band, is going to get even more looks from others, and or, "Where did you buy that Watch?" I love Citizen, because of their reputation, ECO technology, quality, warranty and accuracy.
I have had this watch for a couple of years. Of course it keeps excellent time, and it looks great. But a design feature that I find regrettable is that the minute hand does not extend fully to the minute hashmarks on the outer rim of the watch face. An "atomic" clock watch is for consumers who enjoy exactitude with respect to time. (The classic Movado Museum watch, for example, would not satisfy this interest.) A related design issue, which I have found with other Citizen watches, is that the minute hand is narrower than it needs or ought to be. Make seeing the time as effortless as possible, especially with a dial that is kind of "busy" like most chronographs.
I love the look of this watch. Never needs a battery, never looses time. nice band, I have a big wrist and it fits in the 3rd and 4th holes.
Great design. I love the technology. It's lightweight, yet durable. Very versatile look, you can wear it with almost any outfit for any occasion.
