Timeless Piece

I have owned the AT8020-54L for five years and worn it almost every day. It is a very handsome watch that I often receive compliments on. It has held up very well and would highly recommend it. It is a great watch for the price.

Quite possibly the best value available

My Eco-Drive collection has grown to six, with this watch possibly being the best value for dollar watch I have purchased from Citizen. The watch has a fantastic Aviation feel to the watch, from the subdials at 12 and 6 rendered to look like aircraft instruments to the E6B flight slide rule on the outer bezel. Sure, the small print makes it nearly useless but it's functional and just looks cool. And yes it does work. The Blue Angels vibe is not overwrought either. A simple banner on the front and the blue and yellow coloring on the dial and top of case with a Blue Angels insignia on the back results in proper commemoration without being over the top. But what really sets the watch apart is what you get for your dollar. 1. Water Resistance to 200m (20 bar) 2. Sapphire Crystal 3. Auto synchronization with one of 5 global atomic clocks via radio synchronization. (depending on your time zone) 4. Perpetual Calendar (Never have to adjust days of the month or leap years) with day and date indication 5. Easy timezone switching that does not require manual resetting of the watch. 6. Chronograph in 1/20 increments up to 1 hour. 7. Auto Daylight Savings Time adjustment. 8. 12/24 hour subdial 9. And of course, eco-drive, meaning the watch will last for decades without a battery change. What's even more impressive is not an LCD screen to be seen. This is a beautiful complex watch that does it all. Sure, the Promaster Skyhawk edition has some more bells and whistles, well alarms, to be exact that it's dual LCD' screens allow. But then unless you by the limited edition platinum version, you lose the sapphire crystal... And about sapphire crystals. Citizen's relationship with them is puzzling to say the least. A lower basic paradex black chronograph with a rubber strap, can support 10 bar WR and have a sapphire crystal, but the more expensive Axiom Chronograph has merely 3 bar WR and mineral glass. A World Chrono like this one sports a Sapphire crystal but the more expensive Skyhawk doesn't warrant it unless you go full boat with the limited edition platinum model. Sometimes I think someone at Citizen flips a coin and heads it gets sapphire, tails it gets glass. Seriously, someone needs to rethink this. All watches beyond a certain price point should get sapphire as a matter of principle. But enough about sapphire crystals. This watch has one, and I'm thrilled. It has enough bells and whistles to do anything I want. It's auto correction and perpetual calendar means the only "tweaking" i have to do with the watch is lay it on a window sill once a week to get the best reception. And I don't have to worry about purchasing a battery. If you want a Blue Angels watch, or simply a completely hassle free analog watch, this one is hard to beat.
