Great watch! Wear it much more than my more expensive pieces. Didn't love the band though, so swapped it out for an olive Crown & Buckle NATO strap and it's perfect.
The watch is great, much lighter then I expected. I wanted something very minimal for work and outdoors and this does a great job. I like the canvas strap. It helps with humid areas. The basic face with day of week and month is an excellent addition and the eco drive means it should run for a very long time
I was looking for an all-around watch that had a day/date function and would hold up to the elements. I have gone through multiple watches, a Hamilton Khaki, a Victorinox Maverick, a Seiko field watch and a Fossil watch. I finally stumbled upon this Citizen Chandler field watch and what a great piece of workmanship. I use heavy equipment that vibrates my hands and arms and all the other watches I mentioned were a bit on the heavy side. The Citizen Chandler is perfect. Lightweight and comfortable, this watch has stood up to all the vibrations from the equipment, has been through the mud, the rocks, the heat, humidity, and all that the weather can throw at it and it still performs and looks great. I can’t think of a more perfect watch! It is very easy to read and the lume is amazing at night; lasting until daylight. Forget all the smartwatches with all their bells and whistles along with constant charging. No battery needed here, just a light source. You will not be disappointed in this watch.
Luckily I found this watch which is a replacement for a lost automatic watch. Perfect size, 38mm, for a smaller wrist. Has maintained the charge, I do not even think about it, although it is on my wrist 24/7. The black face and large white numerals and hands offer a nice easily read contrast. Some dislike the band, I found it worked great for me. The military look is casual. I have a black leather band which is easy enough to change out if going out on the town. Did I say it was perfect, no, but close enough.
Bought one 16 years ago and it still works perfect. Runs about 5 secs fast a month but who cares? I paid $80 for it in 2005 and have worn it daily since. I dont wear it in water and when I go on vacation I take a $30 sport watch. I think as watches age the rated water resistance may fade and Its not worth chancing.I have spent more in watch bands than I paid for it thats for sure. Had two close calls losing it when I used to reuse the watchband pins.No more.Great watch ,and if it dies I will purchase another.
The watch face is exactly the size I was looking for, with easy-to-read numbers, and the band is the perfect length for me--I'm a woman who apparently has larger than average wrist bones and while I do wear women's watches, I usually have to use the last or second-to-last hole, which I don't like. I wear this one on the middle of the 7 holes, which is on the loose side and very comfortable. That said, the band itself is SUPER STIFF and super difficult to buckle and especially unbuckle, which is exacerbated by the grommets getting caught while attempting to slide them past the band's guide loops. Perhaps it will become more flexible with use--we'll see. The other problem, or at least oddity, is the second hand jumps two seconds with each tick: long pause, jump, long pause, jump. I don't know if it's supposed to do this, but it's weird--you can't use the second hand for timing, etc. So why have it???
I bought this watch 6 yrs ago and wear it in rough-outdoor use daily. Other than scratches it remains a perfect performer. It is hard to think of design improvement. Maybe a titanium case and hard black finish would be enhancing.
Perfect watch for a smaller wrist! The day /date complication was also a must for me. As far as I am concerned this is the perfect, affordable watch, that never needs a battery.
Citizen Response
Perfect everyday watch. Classic look, and not oversized
Lightweight compact design is very comfortable for all day wear. Battery recharges passively with solar power so you never have to change the battery ever again. Best watch I've found in 10 years.
