Got this a a gift from my fiancée. Was unsure at first as I couldn’t tell time in low light. After about a month of wearing it, the illumination came to life and is now clear as day in low light. Just leave in direct sunlight for a few hours and you’ll see the difference. Love this watch

This watch is beautiful and stunning. Dont listen to everyone. You can see it at night it says it right on the web page "luminous hour and minute hands". These watches are meant for out doors people. Wearing short sleeves shorts so the sun can charge the hands. I will attached photos of mine.

I bought this watch at the beginning of the summer and have gone mountain climbing, canoeing, and hiking all I’ve the Appalachian trail and through the Shenandoah as part of a summer job. I’ve had a lot of messy jobs this summer, and this watch has held up through all of it.
One of the first heavy activities I did with this watch was body surf the Wedge. The watch held up great! Only down side is that sand gets stuck between the glass and metal rim. It comes out though. Also the band can get a bit smelly after long use. Soaking it in soap or something can help, but it's not a permanent fix. Love the tactical look of the watch and that I can surf, dive, and even wear it with a suit. It's versatile and clean. Not a big fan of super bulky watches and this one is perfect size. Not too small either. I've also banged this thing on multiple door ways, walls, etc. and it doesn't scuff very easily. Might need to replace the pins though as mine seem a bit bent. Cheers!

Best watch I've had. I took this out in the field and got down and dirty and it still functions properly. Always is on time, looks cool, and I can wear it in uniform!
Bought to add to my collection and decided to wear it that day and with the tinted glass you can't see the watch in low light
I have never been able to view the time at night, and normally I can with other watches. The black on black time is impossible to read at night without better luminescence. Maybe I just got a bad one

I bought my watch about a month ago now. Its by far the best watch, I have ever owned. Love the fact that the watch recharges with any type of light. Its fashionable. Looks great with anything I wear. Including work wear.
Nice watch. The only problem is you can’t see the time unless there is plenty of light. Hands, numbers and background are to close in color.
I like the shape of the watch case, I prefer brushed unpainted steel but black is also OK, but dial design of all BM8470, BM8476, BM8475 is very hard to read. If they paint minute and hour hand in white not in color of dial, use smaller, more calm Arabic numbers, something similar to dial design on AW0050-15A or AW0050-82E it will be perfect watch. Lume is great, crown, case shape and size is perfect for me. I hope this model will evolve to something modern, but at the same time easy to read and stylish, then I will definitely buy it.
If I had it to do over again I would have selected a different watch. It's very difficult to read except in direct light. The band is a bit small for me too.
I like the look of this watch, but the dark hands on the dark face are often difficult to read (both during daytime and when it's dark). It is fairly comfortable to wear and not too heavy on the wrist, but I'm not sure the strap is going to hold up--less than 1 month and it already looks a little worn. So far it is keeping good time and I am happy not to worry about having to replace the battery.
This watch is unreadable in any low light. I gave it time to build power, charge, left it under the light for days. No difference. Also, lens scratched easily, seeming to be not as durable as advertised.... cool looking under bright light. I never write reviews but, wish I had my money back to buy a different watch.....

I bought this watch, i like the styling, you cant see the all black face and dial unless it's in direct sunlight.
I got the watch as a bday present from my wife. I have always thought Citizen was a premier brand and have always been happy with the ones I have owned. Not so with this one. Shortly after I started wearing it I noticed a small chip in the crystal. I was amazed and very disappointed being that I had done nothing to chip it. I only wore it when I dressed up. I returned it to the store and received another one just like it. The second one developed a chip in the same spot on the crystal as first with the same kind of wear. The store would not refund my money and I have to wait for the second watch to be repaired.

All the hands on the watch are so black that you cant differentiate them between the background. Pretty importamnt to see the second hand on a 911 call (for you paramedics out there) when there's less than 100% light.
