Everything you need, nothing that you don't.

There is something oddly refreshing about the perfect tool watch. A watch engineered specifically for a purpose, and that delivers on that purpose in a basic, no-frills, kind of way. One that you can beat around and wear it's scars as a symbol of pride. A watch you don't have to handle with kid gloves. A watch that is built to last, but also easy to replace. This may be Citizen's least expensive dive watch, but in my opinion it is also their best. Simply because it delivers what it promises, nothing more, and at a price point that is hard to beat. One can marvel at the engineering prowess demonstrated in their 1000m professional diver model, but almost none of us are diving in saturation diving conditions that require a helium release valve, or a locking bezel. We buy it because we think it's cool. And that's ok. If you have the spend. But truth be told, most of us won't ever seriously stress out the base model BN0151-09L reviewed here, and that is why I like it so much. At 100ft, this watch performs the exactly the same as the one costing 10x as much. An ISO certified dive watch, that is certified 4x recreational dive depths, for under $250. What's not to love? This watch doesn't boast a fancy "sunburst" dial, or jewels. Everything about this watch is done to make it easy to dive with and nothing more. Plain and simple. From the orange highlight on the minute hand, to the easy to read lume, to the polyurethane band which allows for expansion of the wetsuit when wet. There is almost nothing on this watch simply for show, except perhaps the engraving on the crown. This is the very definition of a tool watch. And while some might prefer a sapphire crystal, those of us who dive know that scratches have a tendency to simply disappear underwater, which is where this watch calls home. Again, another example of simply providing what is needed, and nothing more. The Eco-Drive provides quartz accuracy without the need to replace batteries. Thus ensuring that your dive watch maintains it's water resistance until you need to replace your seals. If you want to take your dive watch out to dinner, or show off it's "helium release valve" to your buddies, then feel free to purchase one of Citizen's more expensive Promasters. But if you are looking for a simple, easy to use, no frills, affordable dive watch, then look no further than the one here.

Great watch!

Bought this watch for myself. I love it. I own two Eco Drive watches, one of them dressy.
