The Citizen Promaster Diver BN0195-54E combines an amazing set of specifications with an understated look that creates the quintessential “go anywhere, do anything” dive watch. The Eco-Drive E168 movement is very well regarded for its durability and accuracy. Official rated by Citizen at +/- 15 seconds per month, my experience with numerous models is closer to only +/- 2 seconds per month. It charges quickly with exposure to any light source and has a power reserve of at least six months if left in total darkness. The E168 uses a Citizen 295-5100 / MT621 1.5v 2.5mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that many users report working properly for 15 years or more without being replaced. The case dimensions are often reported incorrectly for this model. The case diameter when measured across the 2 to 8 or 4 to 10 position is 45mm. The case diameter including the crown is 48mm. The case measures 48mm lug-to-lug and is 12mm thick. The lug width is 22mm with the bracelet tapering to 20mm at the clasp. The watch weighs a total of 173g with no links removed from the bracelet. The action of the unidirectional 60-click aluminum-insert bezel is smooth and precise with no back play or wobble. The screw-down crown is easy to grip and threads back in place smoothly. The screw-down case back includes a warning that it should only be opened by a service center to preserve the 200 meters of water resistance. Citizen reports including anti-reflective coating on the flat mineral crystal. Mineral crystal is often preferred on dive watches as it is less likely to shatter on impact than sapphire, although sapphire is more scratch resistant. A generous amount of bright blue lume is applied to the hour and minute hands, the indices, and the tip of the seconds hand. The pip in the red accent at the top of the bezel has contrasting green lume. After brief exposure to light the watch is easily readable throughout the night. The black ion plating on the stainless steel case and bracelet is extremely durable and scratch resistant. Images of the BN0195-54E that have been worn for years often show very few signs of wear in the finish. The bracelet has solid end links, a pressed double-locking clasp with three micro-adjust positions, and pin and collar links. It measures 22mm at the lugs and tapers to 20mm at the clasp. The bracelet will easily fit up to an 8-inch wrist and Citizen will provide additional links for a nominal charge if you need them. While production of the BN0195-54E has been discontinued by Citizen this model is still readily available both new and pre-owned. The elegant design and incredible set of features make this watch is an excellent value.
It’s a nice watch and feels like it’s well made. I would recommend buying it !
Great watch--Great looking, dress or casual. Love the solar charging, never have to worry about batteries. Wish the date was bigger, hard for these tired eyes to read. Wear the watch every day. Ordered from Citizen. My second citizen watch. They are great watches and won't break the bank to purchase one. I have had my fill of mechanical watches. Like this one so much better.
