After 3 months of research and reviews I purchased two of these watches over every brand and micro brand. One for myself one for my brother, we’ve both worn them exclusively night and day for over a year. We push limits and this watch has been flawless taking everything in stride, both watches look like new without a single scratch. Extremely accurate running +5 seconds a month, amazingly light at 108 grams with 3 links removed. The no case back design is incredibly comfortable, the sapphire crystal enhances the bold hands and numbers for ultra accurate and precise time checks under pressure. Believe me I’ve been under pressure more than once while wearing this watch and it doesn’t disappoint. My first Citizen and first Eco Drive, I love this watch, it’s a civilized bulldog on your wrist that won’t let you down when times get tough. Thanks Citizen for making my brother and I both happy with such an amazing watch at a steal of a price. I’m proud to wear my Promaster, Citizen is now my brand!
I have owned the watch in the picture for some good 30 years. A few months ago it stopped working so I Googled what could be the problem. I found out that the battery (charged by the sun) could have died. I bought a new battery, changed it, and the watch is again keeping perfect time. There is no Patek Philippe that is a better time keeper.
I purchased the Promaster Tough (BN0241-59H) to serve as a durable everyday watch. The eco-drive quartz movement is a big part of this: no winding, super accurate time, no service for 10+ years. The 200 meter WR is also important, allowing for worry-free swimming and snorkeling. The super titanium finish has not shown any wear so far and keeps the watch much lighter than comparable stainless steel watches with 200 meter WR. The 41mm case fits surprisingly well on my 6.75" wrist and is very comfortable. The bracelet is also comfortable and easy to use. It would be nice for the bracelet clasp to have micro adjustment, but the links are short enough to be able to size it for a good fit. The black dial with white numbers and hands is very easy to read, though the date window is small. The luminous hands and markers show brightly at first, though diminish to a modest (but readable) glow that lasts a full night.
Citizen Response
Just received this watch. It’s a beautiful looking timepiece. It is lighter than I could imagine. It is stylish and rugged. I would definitely recommend. PS, I had citizen presize this for me and it fit perfectly.
Best daily I’ve ever owned. A real beater. Lume is the best of any watch I own. Keeps impeccable time.
The Promaster Tough is a beautiful watch. I wanted an Eco-Drive watch with Arabic numerals, that was easy to see the time, had WR 200 capability, and was comfortable to wear. The numerals are very easy to see (even the date) if you're an older guy. The case is also very rounded-off and doesn't catch on clothes or scratch things, so its very comfortable to wear. I just wish the bracelet was a little more shiny or 'flashy'. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Love this watch. I think the bold hand set suits the watch very well. I also love the applied numerals and markers, they are slightly raised and give the watch dial some pop. The color of the dial also matches the titanium bracelet perfectly. Very well done all around. The case diameter is also ideal for me, it looks great on my wrist. I really enjoy wearing this watch. If you're looking for a great looking and tough all-rounder with NO maintenance this is it.
Great watch. Great fit. Extremely well made. A tank. I highly recommend it. An excellent addition to the Promaster Tough lineage.
I bought it about six weeks ago and have not wanted to change it out since. Extremly well made and designed. The only thing I would add is radio controled.
I read a review on A BlogtoWatch re: this watch and I was sold by photographs and review (not saying the photographs were the greatest, but they provide a very realistic view of the watch). I can't remember if I've ever owned a Citizen watch (but I've bought three in the past week!), but I love solar-powered watches. The matte finish on the Titanium looks great. Legibility is fantastic. The watch is subtle, but not understated. Took the watch to get fitted at a jeweler, but the jeweler swore to me that bracelets were supposed fit loosely ... fortunately, when I got home I figured out how to make a micro adjustment rather than prepare to return the watch. My only "wish" for this watch is that it had atomic sync capability, but I'm not going to ding it for something that the specs clearly state that it lacks. I can't find on the Citizen's website any instructions on how to remove the bracelet should I want to change straps, but I'm very pleased with the titanium bracelet for now. I purchased this from the Citizen web site, but soon realized that it was cheaper elsewhere. Oh, well :-). Regardless, I'm very pleased.
