Beautiful, High Quality Watch

This PCAT watch is stunning to look at in person. I like the brown accents on the watch dial as compared to the previous version which has rose-toned accents on the dial. The watch works as expected in every respect and I am proud to wear it as often as I can.

Most Accurate Watch in the World

Most Accurate Watch in the World Review specifically covers CITIZEN WATCH Model CB5908-57E a.k.a. B081TTYM9, USA market, Titanium version of item pictured. It is an updated (NOV 2019) version of Model AT 4010-50E and other, similar AT (Atomic Time) siblings. Besides Titanium (with hardened coating, here), about one-third weight of Stainless Steel, what sets it apart, as I see it, is global coverage and simple selection of time zones, more reliable hook-up with the Colorado-based atomic clock and easier-to-use MODE. Visually, difference is evident in implementation of lower sub-dial as well as more available etched-on time zones; described later. Out of the box, my new watch was dead accurate in time, day and date………and, of course, leap year. Most questions/answers/comment related to older watch model AT family, should generally apply to this item. Personal assessment over past three weeks of ownership, follows. -Weight is hardly an issue despite bulky look of the case. A 42mm case is relatively large. However, I find this size sits on my wrist very comfortably. Previous, smaller watches were always a hassle – keeping them centered for an easy read. They seemed to slide away towards the outer edge of my wrist. I would compensate by shortening the band on the inner (towards my body) half of the band, leaving the outer side slightly longer. Lugs of this watch are curved in so that the entire unit hugs the wrist, remaining comfortably centered. -Atomic Clock Sync: Watch instruction manual as well as docs related to CO based clock, talk about time signal being broadcast at 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m. etc; that a watch must be left unmoved on a surface, with built-in antenna pointed towards CO. Most FAQ further omit specifying time zone for broadcasts. 2:00 a.m. Pacific or is it EST? I found, that in my humble home, I can receive Sync signals at all odd hours of the day; morning, noon and night, whether in the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom – not necessarily in close proximity to windows. The watch can stay on the wrist to successfully receive a signal, whether manually tripped (hold lower button B for 2 secs) or received automatically. I did find weather-related anomalies wherein, during the late-March 2020 tornado season, signals were weak. Btw: OCT 2012 an enhanced broadcast signal was implemented to address decades-long shortfalls of a legacy system. Watch model CB5908-57E obviously incorporates new protocol. -Multiple time zones are etched on outer edge of enclosed dial, selectable during set-up. So, users do not have to manually fudge around the five zones offered on watches that this model updates. The five-zone lower dial is replaced by a MODE dial, making set-up as well as programming, straightforward. I think CITIZEN could have easily dispensed with Perpetual function in that the Atomic Clock self-corrects for leap years and months, date and day periodically. However, this function caters to countries or areas where reception cannot be meaningfully received. Review remains incomplete without additional comment. Yes, in the dark, luminous hands and hour markers do glow. Worn with long sleeves, this thingy has always shown a FULL charge. No deliberate effort employed to expose to light. More robust re-chargeable battery, is my guess. One thing to be careful is when adjusting band length. An earlier, watch-version, review mentions wear-out of connecting pins. OK, nothing lasts for ever. But, by a design decision quite unlike other brands/models, interconnecting pins on this band are two-part: Main, solid steel pin plus a spring-pin. The spring-pin is one-tenth the size of main pin, tubular with a slit along its length. Without it the main pin will remain loose, endangering watch and wearer! Proper assembly is beyond scope of this review. All in all, this tiny machine presents good value. Enjoy!
