I have had many Citizen watches over the years, including radio controlled, aka “pcat.” Then this fall I got into mechanical watches. Beautifully executed and pretty accurate. But “pretty accurate” was the problem. I live in a world where I have gps on my phone, in my car, and in my Garmin devices I wear for fitness. It drove me crazy to have a watch on my wrist that was “pretty accurate.” So I went to my local jewler and saw this watch in person. It is far more handsome than the illustrations on the Citizen website. It is gorgeous, is surprisingly light weight on the wrist, will work in every social situation, and cannot be more accurate. I have put a variety of NATO straps on it, and have leather straps coming. I will take this watch over any other.

This is definitely the best watch I have ever owned and the first watch from Citizen to meet all my requirements. It has so much going for it, it's hard to decide where to begin. First off, it talks to satellites - how cool is that! It's always spot-on accurate. The watch face is very attractive and well thought out. It is simple, elegant and easy to read - not cluttered like most Citizen watches. The perpetual calendar ensures the day and date are always correct. It"s powered by light so you never have to change a battery. It's waterproof to deeper than I am ever going to go and it acquires and syncs with satellites very quickly. The watch does everything, all you have to do is make sure it gets enough light to keep it charged. Of all the watches in my collection, the Satellite Wave by far brings me the most joy! Get one, you will be glad you did!
I bought this watch a couple of months ago, mainly because of the technology good looks and the Eco-drive. I also have one of your radio controlled watches. I live in Florida and radio reception is not reliable here due to the distance from the transmitter. As an electrical engineer, I saw the new watch as a solution to this issue. Receiving a signal now is much easier. The setup and manual settings is on par with mu radio controlled watch. There is a drawback to this watch: The lack of water resistance. This is an item that needs to be emphasized.
I travel a lot and bought this watch as I thought it would be great to automatically update the time however, the watch has never actually done this. I have always had to mess about with it to have the time update. I have actually stopped taking this watch when I travel as the last few times it would not change from US time therefore, I now travel with my more trusted watch.
Watch malfunctioned, could not set calendar or daylight savings time. I found out the watch is also discontinued. When sent in for repair, they have to order parts from Japan. Expect in 60 days or more. I guess that is why it was discontinued..not reliable and no part available...Looks like I have a $1000 paper weight.
