Only 7 months old and already needs repaired!

I received this watch as a Christmas present. It is a beautiful watch with a lot of function. Within 5 months of owning it, the second hand stops moving and it randomly fast forwards several hours the rewinds several hours before returning to the correct time. I took it back to the store and they would not refund my purchase since it was more than 30 days old. I contacted the Citizen warranty and they want me to pay to fedex it back and insure for the purchase amount.
