Promaster Tough is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well designed Top quality design and build of the watch body (case, face, crystal, bracelet connection to case). Bracelet design also very good, but the bracelet construction is a big step below that of the watch body. The bracelet clasp/closure in particular is of marginal quality. Why make such a beautiful and sturdy watch in Japan and then put it on a bracelet that is made in China??? (and it shows). Very happy with the watch overall. Love Eco-Drive, great quality, elegant design but obviously tough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality Bought this watch recently and I'm very happy with it. I own many watches, and lots of them are complicated, multiple dials, stopwatch etc. This watch has none of that, and I kind of like that for a change. It's a little heavy but I like that. The case is two pieces only (no back panel), and it looks very tough. The glass is sapphire crystal. I also recently bought a watch without that type of glass, and I regret that, scratches already. Not on the Promaster Tough, a very classy and tough watch. Can be worn every day but it looks classy enough as a dress watch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SOLID WATCH-GREAT VALUE Have had this watch about six months. I only take it off when I sleep or in the shower. I work outside using a chain saw, and other tough chores around my property and this thing is solid and never misses a second. I like minimalist watches so I love the simplicity of the dial. I don't like date windows and on this watch(or any watch I own) it is so small I can't read it anyway so for me it is perfect. If you have to have a date window I would not recommend this watch due to its tiny window and I mean tiny.Otherwise a great watch and well worth the money. Final comment. This is a heavy watch. If you like a lighter watch I would get the Citizen Titanium which I also own and it is almost as light as a feather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive rugged watch. I bought the Promaster Tough a few weeks ago from an AD and was immediately impressed with the fit and finish. The titanium coating has a nice dark color to it and so far hasn’t shown a single scratch. The sapphire crystal feels every bit as tough as the steel one piece case. The watch is heavy but feels solid and indestructible. The steel titanium bracelet is very comfortable and seems to be very well made and compliments the thin case. So far it’s keeping very accurate time, I haven’t had to adjust it yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid time piece Got this as a belated birthday present and wow! This timepiece has all the rugged functionality of the Rolex Milgaus, Explorer or the Omega Railmaster without the hefty price tag. The dial is wonderfully executed In minimalist beauty. You can in a quick glance read the time. I did read complaints regarding the small date window. I love the small date window as it doesn’t take away from the watches primary function of giving you the time and the date window is easily seen to get the date. The bracelet is fantastic and with the watch is very comfortable for daily wear. The watch does have heft. So, if you have girly wrists, stay away! This is a working mans watch that can be worn in blue jeans and a T-shirt to a suit in a boardroom meeting. I highly recommend this timepiece!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid! Have owned this watch for a month. I have several other nice watches but keep coming back to this one! I like the weight and feel when wearing. Important and useful to me are: 1 accuracy 2 Eco-Drive 3 Sapphire crystal 4 luminescent hands 5 easy to quick-read 6 date and 7 macho look (maybe that should be 1?) This is my 3rd citizen Eco-Drive and my wife has one too. I'm a happy consumer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great build quality and looks awesome! Bought this from the citizen store and couldn’t be happier. Looks and feels much more expensive than it costs. Sapphire crystal is great and the bracelet is very comfortable. If it is as durable as Citizen claims this watch will be a real winner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect daily wear watch I'll start with the bad, there's only 2: 1) The date window/dial is so hopelessly small that it should have omitted from the design. It's the smallest I have ever seen on a watch. It's so small that its not worth squinting at or updating every month. 2) The metal bracelet does indeed scuff & scratch (so much for titanium) and the clasp is very long - close to 1/3 of the length...which is a big deal for us smaller wrist guys. OK that's all the bad. The good - there's alot: The monocoque back/build is very unique and makes perfect sense for a (automatic) watch not needing a battery. Take that plus the Sapphire crystal, Eco-drive, water resistance - you have the equivalent of great diver watch - that's not a diver watch & no rotating bezel that you're not using since you've never even been snorkeling let alone scuba diving.. So all you dudes wearing your diver watches for these identical features, get this Promaster Tough and stop posing like you're PADI certified. I intentionally set my watches 2 minutes fast for punctuality reasons, and this E168 movement has held steady for over 2 months with no change -/+. The watch is great for the office with a suit and the beach - now that's versatile. I sold off my entire watch collection just so I could have one watch that could do it all, simply, elegantly, reliably, and durably...the Promaster Tough even with it's cheesy name - fits that bill. But seriously Citizen either remove the date or increase it's size to make it readable.

The red second hand is a little off-putting. I don't suppose it would be possible to change this??

Asked by: FRAN58
The RED second hand is very visible and only takes a few days in which to become accustom.

I really want to give this watch a try, but how tough is it? I work at a natural gas compression facility and I’m constantly using heavy equipment/tools and crawling around in huge engine crank cases. Would it hold up in that type of environment?

Asked by: Jday
Would any watch survive this? Obviously I don't have a clear vision of how much the watch might suffer, but would any watch survive? I can only tell you this watch will probably last the longest. This watch is built to last, it does not scratch easy, and it's shock proof. But if I were you I'd take it off at work. The watch is too nice to risk it ;-).

Would love to buy a simple, tough Eco-Drive watch like this, but in super-titanium and with either atomic or GPS timekeeping...any chance of that coming out soon?

Asked by: Gurekku
You will have to go JDM to find something like that. They do make a GPS Promaster, it's very cool

So how much of the watch is actually Titanium? Also, I see only rated for a 3' drop onto carpet, does not seem very tough. I currently wear the Eco-Drive AT4010-50E but looking for another Titanium watch. Thank you.

Asked by: CoachBrianSC
The model watch mentioned is not titanium. The model watch mentioned does not have any titanium parts nor does the description of the watch mention it is titanium. The model watch mentioned is stainless steel with a surface hardening treatment on the band and case. In regards to looking for another titanium watch we have several models that are titanium such as the Brycen and the the Paradigm. Please visit our website to our other titanium models. .

I just wonder how good is the anti magnetism 4800 A.M. or more. How is the shock resistance also. The watch itself looks very nice. The price is very good too. It cost only $495. It is such a good deal. I cannot say No.

Asked by: Fred Choi
The model watch mentioned anti magnetism is capable of taking what an average consumer would be interacting with on a typical day. We do not keep the A/m ratings. In regards to the shock resistance, it is made to take a 3 foot drop on a carpeted surface.
