Reviews
Promaster dive (CA0825-05A)
Heya, noticed nobodys done a review yet so I figured I'd help out. I'll start from the inside and work my way outward. Starting off the hour and minute hands have a clean movement. The luminous white paint on the hands and hour markers has this soft neon white radiance under sunlight thats just gorgeous. It pairs really nicely with the dial face. I know it says the color of the dial is white, but its actually a silvery white. Nothing wrong with that, just not accurate on the store product page. The rings on the dial are crisp, and I like the clean textured look it adds when paired with the hour markers. Would be interesting if they made a variant where the rings are black to match the bezel. The aperture works smoothly, and the crown has a selection for just moving the date which is nice. Unfortunately, you can't scroll the crown backwards to move the date back, so if you miss the date selection you'll have to scroll through the whole month to get back. I learned that lesson the hard way. The bottom black dial is a decent seconds hand movement, although I think it would look better if they'd remove all three black dials and kept the large second hand as the primary seconds hand. The glow in the dark feature is also pretty solid. It only needs a little bit of light to work. Pretty efficient. Although the hour and minute hand has different color glows. Not sure if that's on purpose or just a defect for my model. Next, we have the Bezel. The dive bezel is one of my favorite styles and you can feel the quality of it, and the best part is that the clicks from rotating it is satisfactory. The paint job also holds well. I thought i scratched the paint earlier after i banged my hand on some equipment, turns out it was paint from the other machine. The important bit here however is that the crown is a screw-in type. Didn't realize till I got it, but it's a game changer. Whenever I put on disposable gloves, they used to sometimes catch on the crown and pull it open forcing me to fix the time. No longer an issue now. Finally we come to the band. It has more of a rubbery silicone feel, but I think I prefer this more than the usual stainless steel bands. It has a lot more grip on the skin and doesn't pinch my arm hair. So big plus to my hairy bros out there. Also very convenient to dry after sanitizing it after a work shift. Leather and steel don't clean as easy. Although I don't like the free loops on the band as they keep slipping out of position leaving the Left over band flapping free. The designer team should make the next edition with one fixed and the other free. Almost forgot, the case body and buckle are well made with good steel. None of that cheap stuff some companies try to pass off. Now in terms of weight, I find that it's quite comfortable for long term wear. The case still has that weighty feel from the steel. It feels like half the weight of an all stainless steel promaster dive (BN0191-55L) case body, and none of that clunky feeling on the wrist. The weight is noticeable, but not distracting. All in all, this is pretty solid. I got this as a work watch at the hospital and it's been fantastic so far. I'd give a five star, but those free loops keep slipping every hour. Cheers.
