What a pleasant surprise, A precision instrument at a popular price. Day,date,and time with astounding accuracy. My first Citizen watch but certainly not my last.
This One Watch Stands Out- GREAT Design Features!
I have had this watch for over a year and a half. At one point, I saw this watch in Costco for such a discount, I couldn't pass it up! I am so glad I bought it, as it is now my FAVORITE watch, out of numerous watches and watch brands (Citizen, Seiko, Oceanus, Luminox, Omega, Tissot, Ball, Tag, and Glycene), this watch happens to be the one I wear the most since I bought it! My example came with a nylon fabric band, which was not great, as it frayed within a month or two, but I replaced that band with a nice leather band with a stamped alligator appearance that dressed the watch up considerably. I am glad to see Citizen supply this model with a leather band. The watch keeps excellent time, as it can recalibrate to GPS time signals automatically. I have found that, in my house, which is very difficult to get GPS signals on other devices, the watch will usually be off a second or two within a week or so, but I can occasionally hold it next to a window and it syncs up fairly quickly (20-30 seconds). However, when I am out and about, I find the watch always has the correct time. The lumination of the hands and markers are bright and can last all night, especially if I have been in the sunlight before dark, or in brightly-lit establishments. If you happen to be in a house all day, the lumination can be a bit low, but a quick shot of light from an LED flashlight brings it up to brightness. The longer the lumination is exposed to bright light, the longer it glows. The markers are clearly readable in all lighting conditions. The day of week hand and marker, as well as the Day of month, and sweep second hand is not illuminated, however. This leads to a very uncluttered display at night. My particular example has a very dark green dial, and the hands and markers are outlined in orange. The dial is so dark green, it actually appear black under all circumstances, except for the bright midday Arizona sun. I am about to turn 67 years of age in a few months, to help you judge relevancy. I highly recommend the dial/ color combination for lighting at any level, for pretty much any task, including piloting aircraft, riding a motorcycle, etc., where one can't spare the time to stare at a watch, while doing safety-critical tasks. This is an excellent watch for people on-the-gp and needing precise time information.
Worth It !
Very happy with purchase after studying this watch along with several other Seiko and Citizen pieces. Classy look, very readable, decent and lasting luminiscence if given a good shot of light first, and of course perfect timekeeping.
Satellite accuracy, beautiful design, solar power
bought the watch 3 months ago, and I'm very pleased. Needed a daily wear watch, which was casual / dressy / sporty. This watch fit the bill, and was very reasonably priced. I swapped out the band for a NATO nylon band, that i didn't mind sweating in (Alabama summer)... and have loved several features. The time accuracy is always spot on to the second, water proof means it's ok if I forget to remove it in the shower, and can hop into a pool if I want, design fits equally well on a dressy function, or the gym... the Sapphire no scratch crystal is still flawless, and I wear it to the GYM daily!!! Solar charging is awesome, never go back...
The metric to be judged against
A simple to operate self setting watch, powered by the same sunny sky it faces its scratch resistant face to for the time, with a perpetual calendar, smart looks, and a 20bar water resistance is exactly what I needed. The only minor downside is the leather band was slightly shorter than I wanted, but it doesnt detract from the perfection of this unit against which I measure other watches.
