The Citizen Date Star, a collection of hardy timepieces equipped with a date complication that were designed for everyday wear. What we have here, a ref. 4-530896-TA, is more than just a vintage Date Star, however — it’s in NOS condition, having never been used. It even comes complete with its caseback sticker, hang tags, and original pricing information.

Housed in a 27mm stainless steel “C”-shaped case with a wide, polished bezel, an unsigned crown, and an acrylic crystal, it features a silvered dial with an open outer minute track in black; applied indices; a luminous ‘sword’ handset; and a framed date window at 3 o’clock. Paired to a brushed and polished steel multi-link bracelet, it features a screw-down caseback denoting the watch’s reference and serial numbers.

Powered by the hand-wound, 17-jewel Citizen Calibre 5300 movement, this simple steel beauty is an ideal everyday watch for the discerning collector.
